USA/ Zuckerberg salveaza lumea!
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is an ambitious young man. Zuckerberg’s wealth has zoomed to $45 billion this year, which makes him one of the richest people in the world. But Zuckerberg has loftier goals than just making money. He wants to cure all of the world’s diseases.Zuckerberg said in a conference call with Facebook investors: "While helping to connect the world will always be the most important thing that I do, there are more global challenges that I also feel a responsibility to help solve, to create a better world for my daughter and all future generations. Things like helping to cure all disease by the end of the century."Zuckerberg has major goals. He hopes to modernize the world’s education system and to do his bit to save the environment from climate change. He has founded a humanitarian organization called Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, which he founded with his wife, paediatrician Priscilla Chan. In a note that was released by Facebook, Zuckergerg wrote: “Today, Facebook’s board of directors is announcing a proposal to create a new class of stock that will allow us to achieve both goals. I’ll be able to keep founder control of Facebook so we can continue to build for the long term, and Priscilla and I will be able to give our money to fund important work sooner. Right now, there are amazing scientists, educators and doctors around the world doing incredible work. We want to help them make a bigger difference today, not 30 or 40 years down the road.”“If this proposal goes into effect, we’ll get to keep improving your Facebook experience the way we do today. And over the long term, I think you’ll have better services and be part of a stronger community as a result. I believe in our community and the good we can do in the world, and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with you,” Zuckerberg addedZuckerberg has already pledged to give away 99% of his Facebook shares to humanitarian causes. He also said that he wanted to spend on health and medicine, as medical treatments were worth 50 times as much as medical research.Zuckerberg said, "we have a real shot at preventing, curing or managing all or most of the rest in the next 100 years." He referred in particular to cancer, heart disease, stroke, as well as a number of neurodegenerative and infectious diseases.Facebook also reported that it would allow Zuckerberg to retain his control in the company, even as he sold his shares to finance his humanitarian ventures. Facebook would a new non-voting Class C stock and would issue two new shares for each of the Class A and Class B shares."Todays board proposal would use to maintain and improve the voting structure that has served us well and allow me to fund the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative," Zuckerberg said, adding that he wouldn’t sell ore than $1 billion worth Facebook shares a year.Author: Raghav Hegde – India
