Hillary Clinton responds to criticism!
Hillary Clinton, who is the leading candidate in the U.S. Presidential race, defended herself against serious allegations over mishandling her personal email server. She has been under a lot of attack from her opponents for using a private email server when she was the US Secretary of State – which is against the rules in the U.S.
Mrs. Clinton said, “At the end of the day, I am sorry that this has been confusing to people and has raised a lot of questions, but there are answers to all these questions. And I take responsibility and it wasn the best choice.”
Mrs. Clinton’s approval ratings have dropped considerably because of this controversy and she has tried hard to defend herself against allegations of not being trustworthy enough to be the President of the United States. She was asked about how she felt being called dishonest by her opponents: “Certainly, it doesn make me feel good. But I am very confident that by the time this campaign has run its course, people will know that what I have been saying is accurate.”
She tried to explain the issue this way: “I did all my business on my personal email [in the Senate]. I was not thinking a lot when I got in [to the State Department]. There was so much work to be done. We had so many problems around the world. I didn really stop and think what kind of email system will there be.”
“This was fully above board, people knew I was using a personal email, I did it for convenience. I sent emails that I thought were work related to peoples dot gov accounts,” Mrs. Clinton added.
She also spoke about other issues, and her remarks on Donald Trump were revealing. She said his candidacy was “a bad development for our American political system. Loose talk, threats, insults — they have consequences. The president of the United States needs to be careful about what he or she says.
She said Trump was “great at innuendo and conspiracy theories and really defaming people. He is the candidate of being against.”
She also took a subtle dig at her opponent for the Democratic primary, Bernie Sanders. “I started out listening because I think you can come with your own ideas and you can wave your arms and give a speech, but at the end of the day, are you connecting with and really hearing?”
Finally, she said that her candidacy for the US Presidential race was part of her career-long commitment to help women and girls around the world. Mrs. Clinton explained, “My running for president is a way of sending a message — we have an opportunity to lift up everyone”.
